TORREMOLINOS
Torremolinos is located in the South of Spain along the Costa del Sol. The city of Torremolinos is named after the many windmills that used to be in the area. Torre = tower and Molinos = mill. The city is named after these mills and towers. In the past the city used to be a small village with mostly fishers, now it is a big touristic hotspot. Additionally, Torremolinos is known for being a gay-friendly beach holiday location.
CARIHUELA
the former fisher’s neighbourhood, La Carihuela, is a very popular visiting place for Dutch people. The two large beaches of Torremolinos are in Cairhuela and Bajondillo. On the vast promenade along the beach are many good fish restaurants, typical Spanish restaurants and friendly bars.
The beaches of Torremolinos are beautiful and very clean. Additionally, they are provided with sunbeds, parasols and services on request.
There is a great variety of sports to be tried in Carihuela. Badminton, volleyball, football, and several water sports such as water skiing, jet skiing, surfing, parasailing, sailing, banana boats, and pedal boats as well. However, you can always choose to lie down on your sunbed with a parasol and enjoy the holidays.
Go out in Torremolinos and visit one of the many bars, pubs, or cafés, or go dancing in one of the clubs. There is an entertainment hall and a cinema in the city. During the summer a variety of concerts and a fair will be organised to enjoy. In the neighbourhood of Carihuela, there are a few Dutch Pubs.
Furthermore, the 24-hour plaza in Torremolinos is known for being the exuberant centre of the nightlife in the city. Additionally, the nightlife in the neighbouring village Benalmadena on the south-west side of Torremolinos is recommended as well.
Another recommendation is to visit the marina of Benamaldena away from Torremolinos. Visit not only the maritime centre of Benalmadena, take a look at the lively nightlife here as well.
Excursions to the neighbouring places are certainly worth the effort. Think about visiting Malaga, Fuengirola, Mijas and Marbella. Interesting and worthwhile attractions in Malaga are the Picasso Museum, the stock market, and the Cervantes Theather.

Rent a car and visit: Granada, Sevilla, Gibraltar, Alhambra or for example the Sierra Nevada. The most beautiful displays of nature and culture can be found in these places.
For golf enthusiasts, there are five golf courses within a 20-kilometre radius from Torremolinos, one of which is the Parador course, one of the oldest golf courses in Spain.
